Citizen complaint of the day: The Filene's Memorial Hole not looking so hot

Just in case somebody at City Hall didn't already know about it, an alert citizen used Citizens Connect to report there are now holes in the canvas covering what's left of the old Filene's building.

Given the strong winds and rain we'll most likely be having this weekend they might want to wait until after the weekend. The whole damned thing may come down. I wonder if anyone checked it out after the Tuesday Temblor of Terror...

If that developer doesn't move his ass and do something with that hole, then it's time to eminent-domain him out of town and give it to someone who will.

They're doing nothing with it. Didn't they also ask for some insane amount of money for the lot at one point?

We are all in trouble when the Government tells you what to do with your property. What's next, they don't like the color you painted your house. Drive around Roxbury, there are a ton of vacant lots that look worse.

The developers been getting special consideration from the government to make that mess and leave it that way for years. As far as I know, the government isn't the ones blocking developers from fixing their mess. Developers just speculate, and when things go right financially, they reap the financial rewards, and when things to wrong in any way, someone else takes the hit. In this case, it's the neighborhood quality and existing businesses that are taking the hit.

Here's how to get past developers' stalling. Someone should start busing the youths who mill about Downtown Crossing, to instead hang out outside the homes of the Downtown Crossing Hellmouth developers. Developers will then please to sell Boston the property for *one dollar*, just to get the black teen males from strutting up and down their affluent sidewalks. "Please hurry! Before our daughters start dating them!" Sorry, it's awful, but you know it would work.

Where the government gives money and special consideration to developers who then leave large gaping holes in the city.

We don't tell them what to do, we just let them rape us unconditionally, using taxpayer money.

Most of us (Boston residents) don't want a giant hole right in Downtown Crossing. Use it, or lose it. Why don't they put it on the market at the price they paid for it, and the cost of "work" they put into it?

Dude, this guy is purposely leaving the hole in the ground to blackmail Menino for tax breaks. He even said as much. Tar and feather the guy and give the parcel to someone who will put crews to work.

I saw some workers on the building yesterday, doing something with the canvas. I'm not sure what.
