Channel 4 reports Daddy's Junky Music has shut all its stores.
Guitar center uber alles?
I know there are lots of small music shops remaining, but Guitar Center is the only big store left?
There is Mr. Music in Allston.
and what is going to happen to all the gear?
The gear will likely end up on ebay, where it seems most used instruments are sold these days. RIP Daddy's.
I know its done a lot, but buying a used guitar on ebay really isn't the greatest idea, unless its an incredible bargain. It's like buying a used car sight unseen. You really have to play it first to get the feel of it.
Not only play the instrument first but also 10 others hanging on the wall right next to it.
But apparently most people disagree seeing how many of my goofball friends buy guitars sight-unseen as you mentioned.
Doubtful.
It will be inventoried by the creditor or their agent and placed for sale against the outstanding corporate debt.
That's how a retail bankruptcy usually works.
Don't fret.
...stringing us along!
I still wish there were more large places.
that place at Porter Square (Cambridge Music?) closed, so all I can think of is Mr. Music in Allston.
god, that's sad. I hate Guitar Center with the fire of a thousand suns, and they've killed off everyone else.
Is the name, I think? Near Johnny D's. Used to be another place near where Dolly's late night was, not sure if it's still there.
