Dorchester teen charged with Irish immigrant's murder, double shooting

John Graham, 17, was indicted yesterday on charges he murdered Ciaran Conneely after the annual Irish festival in Adams Corner in October, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

Evidence linking Graham to Conneely's death on Nahant Avenue on Oct. 10 emerged as police investigated an unrelated double shooting and robbery on Monsignor Lydon Way on Oct. 30. Graham was arrested on Nov. 6 for that shooting and was being held on $100,000 bail when a Suffolk County grand jury began investigating him, the DA's office says.

Graham was formally charged with first-degree murder, armed assault with intent to rob, and unlawful possession of a firearm in connection with Conneelys death, the DA's office reports.

Innocent, etc.

Your first sentence is pretty garbled, and missing a bunch of details like the poor victim's full name.

The missing info was there, but stupidly hidden by an errant HTML tag.

Knowing our liberal judges, he will be out in a few years to murder someone else, just like all those before him. What this state really needs is a mandatory death penalty for crimes like this. By hanging, short drop style.

1st degree murder carries mandatory life without parole. IF this kid is guilty, he'll never walk free again.

IF he gets charged as an adult.

It does, but what are the chances of him getting convicted? We've seen plenty of cold-blooded killers get away with second degree, or more often manslaughter. "Oh, he was just defending himself, he feared for his life because the big bad Irishman tried to fight back while the poor kid was peacefully relieving him of his cell phone and wallet so he could get himself an xbox360 for christmas." We NEED cruel and unusual punishments, only fear of slow and excruciating death will stop those savages from murdering innocent people, nothing else will. After all, what is life without parole in the rare event one is caught and convicted? He's clothed, fed and housed for free, and he gets to hang out with fellow gangbangers all day long. What's not to like?

... one without such an annoying Constitution (with its left-wing Bill of Rights).

Please present some evidence that the threat of punishment or of a horrendous punishment is any sort of deterrent for criminals?

Because, if there is some new data, it would represent a reversal of many years of evidence from many countries that the death penalty has no deterrent effect. http://www.deathpenaltyinfo.org/facts-about-deterr...

Why?

Because most criminals don't ever think they will be caught.

http://deathpenaltycurriculum.org/student/c/about/... - there you go. And say what you want, but there's quite a difference between "X shot some fool, now he's an OG at the big house, I'mma go pop some fools now" vs "X shot some fool, they hanged his sorry ass, damn i don't want to end up like X." Even lab rats can be taught to refrain from certain actions, let alone humans.
