A three-alarm fire in a six-story apartment building at 90 Westland Ave. sent residents scurrying into the night when it erupted around 2:40 a.m.
The Boston Fire Department reports no injuries from the fire, which was flaming from the roof when firefighters arrived.
The building, known as Cappy's Corner, houses students from several nearby colleges. The mayor's office assisted them in finding alternate housing for the night.
The blaze did an estimated $400,000 in damage, the department says, adding investigators this morning are still trying to determine the cause.

Hope they had renter's insurance
Do college students get renter's insurance?
I had trouble trying to find renter's insurance myself in Mass. Eventually, an insurance agent who did a friend's homeowner's insurance did my renter's insurance as a favor. I'm pretty sure it wasn't worth his time.
Nobody died in this gigantic
Nobody died in this gigantic multimillion dollar building completely on fire and full of sleeping people at 3 A.M before the arrival of the fire department. There were 72 comments about a hose through a car window because someone parked in front of a hydrant a few days ago, including one calling firefighters douchebags. Surprisingly enough, just 2 comments about this story. Thanks for doing your job, maybe, I guess? Happy Labor Day and don't believe the hype from haters, especially from the Boston Globe.
If you need to own a car in
If you need to own a car in Boston, you should have the brains to park it legally. I've no qualms about the FD smashing it's windows.
