Extreme library makeover at the Hennigan, sponsored by Target

Parent Imperfect reports on the re-opening of the newly remodeled Hennigan School library - in a sea of red, participants were asked to wear Target's primary color - that included not just a spiffy new library but 40 pounds of food for each family:

After about ten minutes, they emerged with bags full of frozen chicken, pancake mix, apple juice, soup, crackers, granola bars, fruit, canned vegetables and other goodies. As in the case of the books, care had been given to the nutritional choices represented by the food distributed. The PI's snarky remark about this being a strange way to celebrate a library, brought Liz's suggestion that this might have been a very important part of the event to some of the families present.

No fan of Target here, for the same reasons the PI mentioned, but you'd have to be heartless to see that this will have a real impact, both gastronomically and educationally and both short term and long term.

So the big box store supports extreme anti-gay politicians, but they took the free food? There's your Rosa Parks moment of the day for ya'.

That very issue is addressed in the original blog.

It's not a black and white world, and you have to weigh the pros and cons of every situation, which it seems this person did. Rarely have I been presented with a clear-cut right or wrong decision.

By the way I don't catch the Rosa Parks comment, not seeing the relevancy of her to this. Care to elaborate?

The issue was addressed: "We took the food."

The way you 'address' the issue is by not taking the food. Or S-ing TFU about extreme anti-gay politicians. It's called integrity.

If the Klan came to your town to hand out presents at Christmas, would you bring your kids?

Presents are not necessities. Food, however, is.
