Fire forces evacuation of Charlestown senior-citizen project

The Boston Fire Department reports a small fire at 100 Ferrin St. in Charlestown this morning sent one resident and one firefighter to the hospital for evaluation.

The fire was confined to a single fifth-floor apartment in the six-floor building. The fire activated building sprinklers and several floors sustained water damage, the department says, estimating total damage at $80,000. Two MBTA buses were brought in for the evacuated residents.
