Five years for drunkenly killing scooter driver and fleeing the scene
A Roslindale man pleaded guilty today to killing a man with his car in front of the Roxbury Crossing T stop.
Colin Ratiu, 24, admitted to one count of motor vehicle homicide and one count of leaving the scene of an accident, for the death of Andrew Prior on Nov. 10, 2010, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.
Prosecutors asked for six to eight years in state prison. Suffolk Superior Court Judge Carol Ball instead sentenced him to five years in a county jail. He will also lose his license for 15 years.
Prior's father, David, recalled his son's work at a Syracuse, NY hospice. "He volunteered there for two years. He used to go read to terminally ill people. He used to feed terminally ill people. He used to talk to and hold their hand."

I'd like to know why charges weren't brought against his mother. She hid the vehicle for month's even while Andrew Prior's family was pleading for the driver to come forward. That is inexusable and dispicable and resulted in increased heartbeack for the family and expense on the investigation

I did not know Andrew Prior personally, but a teammate on my football league knew him. He sounds like he was an incredible person, his death is a tragic loss for his family and our city.

Disappointed in the court system. Might not have been intentional but this was a HIT AND RUN. When the police found the car, it had front end damage, and both air bags were deployed. Sure he cooperated: 3 months later, after he was caught.

After letting the lady who embezzled from the AIDS foundation off with probation a few weeks back, she gives this guy something approaching an appropriate sentence.
