"They extended at least to the Mass Ave bridge and may have been found all the way to the Harvard Bridge."

I'm guessing they mean the bridges near Harvard?

Like the footbridge? Maybe?

The Mass ave bridge is the Harvard bridge - named for John Harvard. The bridge at JFK st. going into Harvard square is the Anderson bridge. They made a common mistake. I assume they meant the Anderson, although I'd be surprised if oysters got that far upriver. The Charles was tidal up to Watertown, but that would have been a lot of fresh water for oysters.
