Long awaited Chinese takeout place in Roslindale finally open
By adamg - 6/11/11 - 5:57 pm
Seven Star Street Bistro on Belgrade Avenue opened last week after finally getting permission from the Zoning Board of Appeals to serve takeout. Fans of Chinese "street food" had been waiting for the opening for several months.
Seven Star is at least the seventh Chinese restaurant to try to make a go of the location; it was preceded by Roslindale's only Taiwanese place.

Is there one . . .
. . . distributor for most Chinese food places? Because I could swear I get the same food from several different places I have ordered from.
Yeah, there are common distributors
Same for pizza places. That's one of the things that could make this place different:
I haven't been yet, so I can't vouch for the taste of their braised T-shirts.
Cap Marden's . . .
. . . is a good sign. They are the best.
Yeah
Given that I like Russo's and Marden's, I'll have to check out this Kinnealey Meats place...
EDIT:
Looks like you can get their retail options at Milton, Newton, and Wellesley.
I tried this out last night, 7 stars
It was very good. We ordered steamed wontons with sweet soy-scallion sauce, crispy shrimp with scallops, and pan fried flat rice noodles with beef. All three dishes were excellent, with intricately woven seasons. What stood out the most was the noodles. That's a dish that very often is greasy and tastes mostly like cooking oil. In this case, there was none of that, but rather an exotic peppery flavor. Everything was also quite fresh, and each morsel of shrimp nearly melted in my mouth.
Also worth noting, that while this is primarily takeout, there are two tables inside. The embiance was good -- a nice cross between hominess and hip, and I was pleased to note that the group sitting at the table was eating off real china, not Styrofoam boxes.
There's a lot more on that menu that I want to try.
Thanks . . .
. . . that's the sort of post I read this site for. Definitely going to try this place.
Uninviting windows
I will try this new Chinese take out now that I have read the posts here but the average Joe driving down Belgrade Ave probably would not stop as the windows are covered with what looks like bamboo poles. People like to look in to see what they are missing but you can when you go buy this new restaurant. I wish them success but I would think one of cardinal rules to opening a business with a storefront is to be as transparent as possible.
