Mattapan looks set to lose another liquor license

The Boston Licensing Board this week considers a request from the owners of the now ex-Avenue Tavern on Blue Hill Avenue to sell their liquor license to an upscale Mexican place under construction at Faneuil Hall Marketplace.

The Avenue Tavern was recently torn down to make way for a new community health center. On Wednesday, the board listens to the owners of Mija - going in where the old Sam's Cafe at Cheers used to be - explain the public need for another liquor license in the marketplace area, in this case the one they want to buy from Ave. Tav owner Frank Plotner.
