More gunfire and explosions in the Financial District today, again, most likely simulated

Although it would be cool to think BPD really meant it when it advised of "fun fire" today.

. . . being filmed yesterday. Lots of wrecked cars on different streets- and a lot of generic 1970's type brown sedans with historically inaccurate Massachusetts license plates (Mass all number plates don't have dashes like New Hampshire's). The cars had "VCR Repair - since 1972" on the doors.

I'm sure it will be another fine movie story.

Edit- Ok- maybe some all number plates were issued in the 60's and 70's that had dashes according to this great site depicting Mass plates over the years- but the ones in the movie were the wrong color for the time period- I think . . .

RIPD is the Rest in Peace Division- a group of undead cops.
I don't think verisimilitude, especially re: the colors of license plates, is what they're going for here.

They have taken over two storefronts on Milk St. One is the VCR repair shop, right behind the Old South, the other is across the street and its a pawn shop. They had a bunch of goldish VCR vehicles in various states of being smashed and a couple of blue Subaru wagons that all looked to be from the early 90s or there abouts. I noticed the plates too, I just figured they were going for a pre-spirit of America look. Maybe there are deals about using actual plate numbers ala the 555 area code. Lot's of Boston's finest getting detail pay for this and lots of light cranes, pretty cool I thought.

So THAT is what that is about! Here I thought it was just a sign of the times in an ironic location.

Set designers and decorators are good.
I was actually working on a film set and kept waking by a "restaurant" that looked enticing- decor and menu posted in window.
I asked around about when they opened and how the food was.
Got laughed at b/c it was just another set dressed for the next day's shoot.

Video cassette recorders (whether Betamax or VHS) were not common consumer items until the late 1970s.

See above comment on film being a COMIC BOOK ADAPTATION and adjust your expectancy for verisimilitude accordingly.
The main characters are UNDEAD. Please willingly suspend your disbelief.
Good Lord.

I think someone's been spending too much time filling out Imdb movie pages with continuity goofs.

Must be time travel involved. No doubt about it.

Ha! Love the continuity posts..
I was a projectionist (and surfer) showing the Terrence Malick WWII movie, The Thin Red Line.
Swore I saw a contemporary shortboard as the camera panned across the beachhead.
IMDB proved it years later.
Some surfing grip or set decorator's board will live forever on celluloid.
(note to Ron- I know celluloid isn't used anymore, sorry I'm still going to use the term. )

We didn't have zombie cops in 1972!

The question might be whether we have ever not had zombie cops!
Stay focused though-
Zombie 5-0 cars need to not be anachronistic. Damn the story.

That's true, I have it on good authority that the zombie cops weren't hired until 1985.

Undead staggering thru parks in the metro area. Then satiating themselves with the beer they stole from kids.

- that seemed early to me as well. I don't think my family got a VCR until around 1982- before my Mom relented and allowed a microwave in the Kitchen (something I refuse to own or use- If I'm not motivated enough to fry, broil, boil, or bake something - then I'm not hungry.)
