Musicians "go underground" to help families in need
Update: The Winter Warmer concert has been canceled but you can support the homeless by instead staying home this Thursday night. You can learn more about how to support families in crisis here.
On Thursday, March 3 from 6-8:30 p.m., local folk artists, The Loomers, will take their act underground and join United Way, homeless advocates and community leaders at the Courthouse “T” Station to raise awareness of homelessness and the needs of local families who have been affected by the financial crisis. The Winter Warmer, a benefit concert, will raise funds for United Way’s Family Financial Stability Fund.
Last year, United Way’s Family Financial Stability Fund helped 10,000 families in crisis. Despite that achievement, however, 4,000 requests for help went unanswered due to lack of resources. Funds raised at the Winter Warmer event will help ensure that fewer of these families are turned away this year.
