I live on the
I live on the brighton--brookline border it sounds like very scary construction work.
I Heard It...
...yeah, about 4 hours ago, outside of Coolidge Corner in Brookline. Sounded like an entire work crew hammering on a roof.
Brookline reporting in
We've been housesitting in Brookline and totally heard them this morning; I also heard them yesterday and Thursday mornings. Sounded a lot like a very loud nail gun, only not used with any kind of regularity or normalcy.
piano and popping -- does fog make sound carry?
I was walking by Hammond Pond this morning, it sounded like the popping was coming from the direction of the star market across the pond. The pond was frozen and it was very foggy, does that make sound carry? There was also loud classical piano music emanating from the same direction!
Heard it in JP
No idea what the heck it was
gun fire from the brookline
gun fire from the brookline country club, they have an outdoor range and we hear it alot
We heard it in Mission Hill
We heard it in Mission Hill too. It was not 'fireworks' or 'gunfire''. Any idea?
I wish there was a better
I wish there was a better description of it, so that one could actually postulate on the cause. Without any information about duration, volume, frequency or description beyond "popping" not much one can determine. Can anyone fill in the details with something longer than a twitter post?
Moonshiners!
Sounds like somebody's set up a moonshine still! According to the recent TV series, a still will make loud bangs or pops when the hooch is being produced.
There could actually be some truth to this theory... a few weeks back, a Groton town official was arrested for making the stuff on town property.
Still hear them
I hear them almost excluseively at night. I live on the top of mission Hill if that helps. I heard them 30 minutes ago and again recently. It's pretty annoying
