No Green Line service between North Station and Lechmere the next couple of nights

The T reports it will be bustituting starting at 9 p.m. tonight and tomorrow because of the need to shut Science Park for elevator work.

More to come

Starting in May there will be an extended shutdown of North Station to Lechmere for elevator work.

The reason given is that Science Park will be inaccessible during elevator work. However, I don't see why they can't simply skip Science Park and bustitute to that station alone from Lechmere.

Why we can't "bustitute"

Well, replacement bus services are quite annoying, aren't they? I mean, you have to walk at least 300 meters from the Green Line to the Bus, most people wouldn't want to risk that kind of strenuous exercise.

Well I agree that the

Well I agree that the stations are rather close anyway, but I think they are required by law to "bustitute" or provide some alternative.

You're kidding, right?

What law would that be???

Probably refers to ADA

but that doesn't apply in this case because Science Park is not currently accessible. (Which is why this construction project is occurring at all.)

If that were the issue, they

If that were the issue, they could run trains through Science Park without stopping, and provide a shuttle bus just for the few people going to or from Science Park.

But I suspect the elevator construction will prevent any train service at all.

Here's an idea

Rent a wheelchair or a walker and see how far you get.

How is this going to work?

Right now the Craigie Bridge is one-way westbound due to bridge construction. Are they going to make an exception for the shuttle buses?

I'm sure they will do what

I'm sure they will do what the Easy-Ride buses have been doing, go over the Gilmore bridge to Charlestown and take North Washington St. to Causeway St.

This honestly is not very

This honestly is not very different than normal service anyways haha. It's quite rare when a train actually makes that stretch between North Sta and Lechmere. Heck, service might actually be better with bustitution!
