Wow. At least they're going to recycle that water. Is it headed to the Greenway?

I always love the waterfall feature they have rigged up at Back Bay (with the tarp) every time it rains. By now, it's like public art.

Speaking of leaks, are they ever going to fix that leak at the Downtown Crossing Concourse over the stairs that lead to the Alewife platform? That leak has been there at least three years now and nothing has been done about it except to put a cone on the stairs.

Someone had to give up their parking space saver in order to put that cone on the stairs!

In Europe, there are cathedrals that have been standing 700 years without the use of buckets. Massachusetts has some kind of anti-Midas effect - even gold bars would be turned into turds by construction contracts.

include penalties for time and cost overruns, and also for insurance against contracts for shoddy work.

It can be done, and should be part of any state contract, but isn't.

Part of the problem is lowest bid too. You get what you pay for.

It has nothing to do with the bidding process. Coming in with the lowest bid does not allow you to do shoddy design or work. The contract has standards written into it. The contract goes to the low bidder who is willing to do the work up to standards. You shouldn't have to pay a premium to get minimal standards. And I doubt South Station was rebuilt by a guy with a pickup truck. These are big businesses, not Joe the Roofer.

Wow maybe they can use these buckets next by filling them with sand and filling in the sinkhole underneath South Station.
