I had boarded that bus (1021, IIRC) around 1:20ish or so to go to Trader Joe's at the Prudential Center. The bus had pulled right up at FH and let on a few passengers, and I noticed he was calling on the bus phone. I got to the back of the bus, and the bus departed (after he told an older guy to "hurry up and get on the bus").

Once we got to the Monument (Centre & Eliot), the bus stopped for a bit. He put on his vest, and went outside the bus and began to look at the wheel wells, figuring he was reviewing an accident or something like that. We waited for fifteen minutes to figure out what was going on. Then we saw two MBTA cops come to the side of the bus. I thought, "uh, oh...did he call on one of us?" (I asked as much, and the female officer joked, "no, we're not looking for tall red-headed guys with glasses.")

Ten minutes later, the inspector, two more transit police cars, an unmarked car surrounded the bus, and the two officers were giving the driver a sobriety test. The male cop came over and asked us if he was doing anything strange or inappropriate, and I said, "No, he was just calling on the bus phone." We then boarded Bus 1034 around 1:50pm.

He actually seemed fine to me - I didn't smell any alcohol or notice any strange. But once I saw your headline, that popped immediately into my mind. Usually there are stories about passengers doing this stuff, but never in the 27+ years I've been riding the T have I ever seen a driver get pulled off for DWI.

Perhaps news gathering organizations have decided that they need to competed with Twitter and the like. Only possible reason for this "report". Driver was taken due to "probable cause" which goes undefined, is released because he passes, but is still suspected while they figure out what happened. Eye-witness indicates nothing unusual.

Am I the only one reading this and wondering WTF??

My previous comment seems to have posted twice, and I can't figure out how to delete the duplicate. Please ignore the noise.
