They've been working on the Red Line, all the livelong morn

Red Line workers

Roving UHub photographer Jake Wark become walking UHub photographer Jake Wark this morning, thanks to a dead Red Line (happy Sept. 1!), which is how he came upon these T workers just before the Longfellow working fast to fix whatever it was that broke.

The sign in front of them became accurate again around 8:45 a.m.

Point of order

The same Jake Wark who occasionally posts on UH in an official capacity as a spokesperson for the judicial branch? Should we pretend that UH is part of the 4th Estate, and keep our roles straight, so we don't get into conflict of interest later? It doesn't matter this time, but would be good to know what UH is.

Yes, the same guy

Couple of points:

In his official capacity, yes, he's a spokesman for the Suffolk County District Attorney's office (which is, strictly speaking, not the judicial branch).

He did not take this photo in his official capacity. He was on his way to work. Yes, Jake does post here in his official capacity - on issues related to matters involving his office.

Anybody can send a photo to me and, if I think it's interesting/weird/newsworthy enough, I'll post it. Photographers don't get paid, so the least I can do is give them credit (and before you get your panties in a bunch: I only use photos that people send me directly, tag as universalhub with the understanding I might post them, for which they give me permission to post if I ask or which have Creative Commons licenses that allow for reuse).

Conflict of interest? Really? Because I posted a photo like this?

Meh

Adam, I wouldn't let a cowardly anon bother you too much. The fact is, those of us who actually register and care to be part of the community appreciate items like this-- crowd-sourced news and photos that come faster than traditional media.

So a user, who happens to post in an official capacity, sent a photo completely unrelated to said capacity. The photo is not some breaking news item or scoop of any import, so I don't see what the conflict could even possibly be.

Carry on, good sir!

derp anon

And the tin foil hat brigade.

Adam, didn't you make a pen for them yet? I thought that's where you tucked Zak away, letting him out for a walk ever now and then.

8:45 right when I finally

8:45 right when I finally got to Park after much delay in getting there from Quincy. I think I was on the first Braintree train they let through without the shuttle buses at Park.

Appropriate, compared to Fernstrom

Jake Wark is demonstrating the correct use of social media for somebody who works in the communications business, as opposed to Eric Fernstrom, who showed the wrong use of social media.

Kudos to the T workers for

Kudos to the T workers for getting this fixed! I rode the Red Line later in the morning and had to get to work on time, and there was no evidence of a problem.

Head start

Red line getting a head start on its monthly quota of problems?
