Three-alarm fire races through East Boston house

A fire at 136 Chelsea St. displaced six people and did an estimated $150,000 in damage this afternoon, the Boston Fire Department reports.

The fire went to three alarms as the department called in reinforcements to keep it from spreading to neighboring houses, just a couple of feet away on either side. Investigators say the cause was a short circuit in the basement.

Meanwhile, AlertNewEngland reports, the North Reading Fire Department is working to get a horse out of a swimming pool.
