UPDATE: Firefighters were still finding "small pockets of fire" at 12:30 a.m., BFD reports. All out finally sounded at 2:43 a.m. House declared a total loss. Five feet of water in the basement.

Firefighters battled a fire - and ice - at 61 Neponset Ave. tonight.

All seven occupants of the house - four adults and three children - are accounted for and will need a new place to live, according to the Boston Fire Department. One firefighter suffered chest pains while another slipped on an icy sidewalk outside the remains of the house, the department says.

Firefighters arrived at 9:20 p.m.; the fire grew quickly and they were ordered out of the building for their safety around 9:45 p.m. At one point, crews lost water pressure in their hoses. The MBTA sent a bus in which firefighters could warm up. The department adds local residents opened their homes to the displaced occupants until they found new accommodations; the Boston Sparks volunteers provided hot coffee and hot chocolate to firefighters.
