Another careless smoker blamed for fire, this time in East Boston

The Boston Fire Department reports a fire at 114 Bayswater St. did an estimated $40,000 in damage.

Fire officials say the blaze, called in around 11:45 a.m., was confined to the top-floor porch of the house with a cannon out front. Cause: "Careless disposal of a cigarette."

No injuries were reported.

I used to live in the

I used to live in the 3-decker diagonally behind this home. The houses are VERY close, with tiny backyards and trees, and the power lines/cable wires are between the houses. Glad the BFD could get this fire taken care of quickly and that everyone is OK.
