End of game, end of story.
Jay Fitzgerald pays his respects:
I'm trying to remember the last time a losing Boston sports team garnered as much fan respect as this year's Celtics. The only team I can think of is the 1967 Red Sox "Impossible Dream" team.
They did fade at the end but I think their colors held fast til the end.
Hat's off for a great season and two great playoff series.
Just too much for the old guys.
I'm thinking the Patriots in this year's Super Bowl did, too. Memories sure are short these days.
Don't despair just yet. There actually IS a winning "Boston" team:
The defending 2011 WFA champs! Their logo is distinctly more badass than the Patriots'.
They didn't just win, they kicked butt:
the Brady-less team that Matt Cassel led to an 11-5 finish. Even though that was not quite good enough to make the playoffs, it was a very satisfying season.
Those Sox weren't expected to win it all, and just getting as far as they got was a treat. Same for this C's team.
