Examples of epic drunk parking
There's a chance, of course,
There's a chance, of course, that EPIC guy parked there because the person next to him was parked way over the line but left before the picture was taken. Just saying.
my thought too... i often see
my thought too...
i often see that people park like this, wasting 2 spots. also, why do motorcycles take an entire spot? i do not get this at all!
How many spots should they take?
Do you think they should try to squeeze in between parked cars or something?
Welcome to Boston
Motorcyclists are required to take a whole spot. Boston is one of the few cities that I have seen that doesn't have specific parking for motorcycles and also bans "squeeze in" parking too.
That means, fake it on the sidewalk or or take a whole spot. If you don't take the whole spot, you can get a ticket. If you don't park such that you are completely blocking out the entire spot, some douche will squeeze in and then the motorcycle gets the ticket.
I'll try to find a picture of the cycle parking spaces in Barcelona - they squeeze them in everywhere, and have entire lots full of nothing but motorcycles!
Check out Boylston St
There are several motorcycle/scooter marked spots along Boylston in the Back Bay.
"Pig Parking"
There was a whole episode of "Curb Your Enthusiasm" about that very thing. Larry David called it "pig parking" and pointed out that it causes a chain reaction of off-kilter parking.
Formerly a major problem ...
... at the Atrium Mall. These days, I suspect not so much.
I like the handicapped placard
Must be for her brain.
Yes, I know I said "her."
You figured this out how?
Your habit of sniffing seats in unlocked cars could get you in trouble!

Blatent plug...
I'm the co-conspirator in a website that would love any more fine examples of 'special' parking not only in Boston, but pretty much anywhere. If you have any, submit them at this website:
Or send them to
Cheers!
Not so fail
It's not exactly as if they took two spaces here. They overparked the area in front of the stairs and from the pic it looks like the car is still wide of the railing. If there's plenty of room to go around the other side of the pylon, then I don't see how this is all that bad. I've parked similarly when the rest of the space in the lot can't be used for parking because it helps prevent assholes from dinging the side of my car when they park next to me and don't watch their door. We all know people who have been in their car when someone has opened their car door into their car before. It's the worst thing about parking lots. As long as the marked space isn't required for access, like a door or handicap van ramp, then it's usually just because another car wouldn't fit.
The street parker who couldn't be troubled to park out of the lane deserves to have their front corner taken off by a trash truck though.
GMTA
That was actually my attitude: they didn't take up two parking spaces; they made it possible for the stairs to still be passable. So much less a fail than the people who take two parking spaces by design in mall parking lots.

The fail is that some of you
The fail is that some of you dont see that this is could clearly be handicap parking, Id assume the actual handicap spots were taken. As someone who has transported people who need assistance, the passenger side needs a large berth of space available for the maneuvering, space a regular spot does not provide. So the driver made the space by using wasted space on the side.
You don't have to back in
I mean, a lot of people think they do ... but you can just as easily get that space on the passenger side by pulling in head first.
If it is handicap parking, where is the placard on the EPIC? The street parking fail would do better to be against the curb, since there don't appear to be any of the typical obstructions.
Whenever possible, I always try to back into
parking spaces. It's not for better passenger egress/access (I normally travel alone), but because pulling out of a space afterwards, as opposed to backing out of the space, is IMO easier and safer due to the better field of visibility you have by looking forward.
it really is...
...in your face, but you can't have it.
