Fire burns six East Boston residents out of their homes

The Boston Fire Department reports no injuries in a fire that erupted shortly before 10 a.m. at 35 White St. The fire apparently started in a third-floor deck and spread to the roof, the department says, estimating damage at $500,000. Investigators are still working to determine the cause.
