Gridlock on the Green Line

It's SNAFU at Park Street, where people are sardined on platforms waiting for trains to move. At 6:38, Nikki Frankel tweeted:

MAJOR delays on green line. Been at Park St. for 20 minutes with no movement. PA said service has been "temporarily halted".

Tlukowski tweets:

3 D line trains, sitting on the Park Street platform for 10+ mins.

At 7:07 p.m., Pat Haley tweeted it took his trolley 45 minutes to get from Copley to Park.

It's a gorgeous day...

Hubway ftw!

Thank goodness the feds

Thank goodness the feds blessed us with new cameras to record the expressions of glee on commuters' faces.

Home run of FAIL

Late to the party as usual

Had to add my .02 - oh wait, make that $16 - in cab fare for the trifecta of T fail on that magical day.

On deadline to catch a boat from Long Wharf at 11am. Arrive at Harvard Sq at 10am to hear announcement that "Red Line is experiencing delays at Park St". Oh noes! My best decision evah was to grab a large iced coffee from the embedded DD in the station and hightail it to the "I don't know nuthin" woman in the info booth who said "the inspector's down there, go ask him if train's are going to Park St". So I ran to the track where the train is idling and the "I don't know nuthin" inspector is gabbing to the "I don't know nuthin" driver. All he will say is that the trains are running one station at a time - no time frame known at all.

So I run up to the street and look for the #1. It's parked streetside - no driver in sight. App says next bus leaves in 15 minutes. Crap.

So I hail a cab and take it as far as my wallet will allow - Hynes T station. $16. 10:32 And get on a train - which poops out at Park St!10:48

Boat leaving in 12 minutes! So with my gear, I ran from Park to Long Wharf (the FAR end)and was the last person to board at 1100 on the dot!

But wait, there's more! Coming back, I decide to avoid the Red Line and so make the fatal mistake of boarding a D train at Gov Center to go to Kenmore and catch a #57. Which is so sardine like that it leaves people at every stop. And then it left me - no one would let me out at Kenmore until I got to the doors as they closed on my face.

So I walked from Fenway over to BU, where the #57 raced on by without stopping! Being physically ill by that time, I got myself to the stop at University where there was a shelter and a seat - and watched the next one race by - with people standing, but with obvious room for the 3 of us waiting. The driver made lovely faces and gestures, and that's when I had enough.

I called the T see something, say something # and reported what I saw. Believe it or not, they (when they finally answered after being on hold for 20+ minutes) took a detailed report and called back 2 days later to tell me they IDed the driver, took action and gave me the complaint ref # in case I ran into him again. And the woman who called couldn't have been nicer and more thoughtful.

Rainbow kisses, T. Although I did tell her I felt bad complaining since most of the time the drivers on my reg routes, 57 and 71 are aces - they really are great and are attentive to special needs of riders.
