An hour of candlepin at Sammy White's in 1982

Raise your hand if you even know where Sammy White's was, let alone what made it infamous. Plus, check out the mop on Brian Leary's head - and the ads ("Come play your fav-o-rites, Wonderland!").

What, you prefer unadulterated "Candlepins for Cash" with good ol' Bob Gamere? Here ya go.

Tip o' the pin to Spatch, who, late at night, when the city is asleep, prowls the back alleys of YouTube in search of justice.

We could never say just Sammy White's. Everyone had to say the whole thing. Sammy White's Brighton Bowl.

Where in Brighton was this place? I arrived here in '81 and, like many others, spent some time living in Brighton, but I had never heard about the murders.

... was right near where the House Of Pancakes is, on Soldiers Field Road, or maybe Staples is a better reference.

I used to bowl there often, even entering some of the "roll-offs" to try and get onto the Saturday morning show.

I originally thought it was McDonalds but I sky-googled & it's the Acura place. I think.

1600 Soldier's Field Road. There was a club attached as well.

Especially the break at around 31:00 with the TV show previews and the good morning shows that offer tips on how to avoid getting a DUI with the upcoming changes to the drunk driving laws.

That's the answer to this question: "Who's the guy sitting in the back corner of Daisy Buchanan's working on a Wade Boggs road trip and a beechwood-aged speech impediment?"

current location of acura dealership. closed down after a triple murder. a guy i knew from my neighborhood (he used to play touch football with us kids) was fired from sammy whites and returned and murdered three co workers when they were closed. bryan something? really creepy guy who ruined the local teen hangout before i even got to be a teen.

p.s. an older friend of mine, named wayne, called in sick to his job at sammy whites that day. didnt get murdered.

I bowled there as a kid. There was a nightclub, believe it or not, that was part of the whole complex. Never made it inside the club, but as I remember it had a reputation as a rowdy place. Today it is an Acura dealership, the first in the Boston area.
