Maybe they should start calling Athens the Boston of Greece

The Atlantic reports the Boston area has a bigger economy than Greece - and we're not threatening to pull down the entire European economy.

Shhh... the Greeks will ask

Shhh... the Greeks will ask us for a bailout, being the 'Athens' of America, and try to talk Deval into making them eligible for welfare!

Never mind Deval...

...where's Mike Dukakis when ya need him?

last time I checked,

MA is #1 or #2 among the 50 states in per capita state debt. Because of all the tax exempt institutions and demographics, more state money flows into Boston than flows out. Pray that we continue to defy gravity (somewhat) with the local economy. If that stops, it could be US asking GREECE for a bailout.

Boston's GMP

Gross Metropolitan Product, analogous to a nation's Gross Domestic Product [GDP] is big, in the top 10 of American cities. And yes, many American cities have GMPs larger than whole nations.
