Mexican food didn't last in the North End

Boston Restaurant Talk reports the demise of the North End branch of El Triunfo, about a year and a half after it opened in what was formerly a raw-food restaurant, which also didn't last.

I wouldn't call what they were serving Mexican. It was a mix of all South American foods...and while it was decent, they never really made an effort to reach the locals (no menu drops, no specials, barely a sign out front). I believe they tried a spot on Broad St. downtown as well, and that one is also closed.

The place nextdoor also sells Burritos and tacos. I’m glad El Triunfo closed. It gave me food poisoning. Prince Postale is my North End Burrito joint.

Are those burritos any good? I've been a little skeptical of trying a burrito from what's essential a general store.

I would think they're working off the wrong continent... Maybe try sticking to German food? Maybe Japanese?

El Triunfo was originally owned by a Salvadoran family (like most of our ostensibly Mexican restaurants), then bought by a Turkish owner, which is why its menu has that odd amalgam of Mexican, Central American and Turkish dishes: you can get a kofta taco there.
