Not a big fan of Olives?

Charlestown Patch reports somebody threw a brick at the front of Todd English's City Square restaurant early Saturday and then, apparently not satisfied with the damage he'd done, picked the brick up and threw it again.

Erica Wang was one of the many partners English has left in the lurch, in this case a former fiancé whom he dumped in the most dickish way possible, on the day of their lavish, long-planned wedding: http://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/item_dCYVs3irQA...

throw a brick at one of his restaurants.
How disgusting is it that the Boston Licensing Board has spent the last five years bending over backwards to kiss this pretentious dirtbag's ass?

... and suspect (especially after reading that story) that I never will.

The food is as good as his personality.

Many stories flying around about dozens of purveyors that English allegedly stiffed in the death-spiral of Kingfish Hall. One prominent chef waggishly suggested that the reason The Todd has started his own oyster farm is that local seafood vendors won't deal with him anymore except on a cash basis. He does have a long track record of leaving partners in the lurch.

I'm curious: has anyone been to the revamped Olives, and if so, is it any good? I gave up on the old one a long time ago.

The remodeled bar was great, it's in the center of the place, lots of seats, but the food was typically Todd English. Average at best. I was very unimpressed w/the Moules frites...which turned out to be maybe 5 mussels on the shell, a few mixed into a strange curry mixture, and chucks of potatoes.

...works out to 4,166 plates of meatballs. I'm guessing the contractor passed on that offer.

Thank goodnessness the brick didn't start another fire.
