Seriously? In addition to paying attention to street cleaning hours, now I need to keep a Red Sox's schedule in my car before I park?

Not exactly new
This is the way it's been ever since I've been here (over a decade now).
It's actually a pretty limited area around Fenway that they have these signs compared to some cities I've seen that use it more as a way to force you to use the for-fee stadium parking.
Just imagine if you worked near Fenway Park but live in Brighton where BC has "no gameday parking" signs on *residential* streets throughout the entire community.
