Red Line shut after person winds up on tracks and under a train

Around 1:09 p.m. on the southbound side, the Boston Fire Department. Rescuers extricated him after about 30 minutes. Alertnewengland reports he was taken out alive and rushed to Mass. General.

With the power out, the T substituted bus service, which pretty quickly led to huge crowds outside stations.

I was at Park street and it was complete chaos the cops were doing their best but they were overwhelmed by the massive controls hopping mad about being kicked out of the station. Thank God the thunderstorms haven't hit or there would have been a riot

I have no idea what that means.

Controls = crowds in autocorrectspeak

How does one end up "under a train"? Was this someone who jumped/fell on the tracks and ducked just in time? Was this someone taking a nap? Did the evil villain tie the guy to the tracks before the hero could reach him?

Totally befuddled by how it all got to that point - please keep us (at least me!) informed with details as you get them.

I wish people who go to commit suicide in front of a train would, for a second, think of the operator of those trains and the horrors they end up going through for the rest of their lives because of things like this. As a train operator for 35 years (not for the MBTA) I feel terrible for both this poor young man who needs help, and for the operator of this Red Line train.

I wish they'd think about all the commuters they are inconveniencing. Do us all a favor and blow your face off in the comfort of your own home!
