Roslindale has the honors: First neighborhood with West Nile Virus this year

The Boston Public Health Commission reports the first mosquitoes carrying West Nile Virus this year were found somewhere in Roslindale and the city has started putting larvicide in drains and other places where mosquitoes breed.

The virus, which typically results in no more than flu-like symptoms in people with otherwise healthy immune systems, is spread through mosquito bites. The commission says people can reduce their risks of catching it by using insect repellent outdoors, especially from dusk to dawn and, natch, wearing long pants and shirts with long sleeves. Making sure any screens on doors and windows are in good shape wouldn't hurt either, the commission says.

well

It most likely traveled in via the bike path from JP

If it's a JP mosquito...

chances are there's a whole nest of them. It wouldn't be the first to leave JP for Rozzie just to breed.
