Small chemical spill brings hazmat crews to BC

The Boston Fire Department reports nobody was injured when some piperidine spilled around 9 p.m. on the second floor of the Merkert Chemistry Center, but that firefighters trained in hazmat responses had to go in to clean it up.

Piperidine boils at 106 degrees. By the time the BFD comes to hose it down, it will have all evaporated. By the way, piperidine smells to many people like semen, so the undergrads near the chemistry building must have had a merry time wondering who in the crowd hadn't showered after sex.
