The Daily Free Press reports on a meeting last night about Boston University's South End biolab, which one day hopes to ramp up to play around with ebola and other nasty bugs.
Clearly the risks associated with deadly pathogens are significant. I do not understand the reasoning that puts this lab in a densely populated area. You could build the lab, all of its safeguards and procedures in a place without inner-city population nearby and reduce the immediate consequences of failure to contain significantly.
Does anyone know who funds the research and for what purpose?
