A Statute of Limitations requires that a case be brought against an accused or a civil defendant within a reasonable time so that the defendant my prepare an adequate defense and not be inhibited by the passage of time. Fifteen years is a long time. Where were you on March 21, 1996? Who saw you there? Any proof?

Reasonable people disagree on these topics. If you argue in favor of the 15 year Statute that now exists are you a protecting pedophiles or protecting people from being the subject of wrongful allegations and being handcuffed by the passage of time, in preparing a defense.

You are either with us or against us. If you agree with a Statute of Limitations you are pro pedophile. If you disagree as to whether government should be deciding what should be covered by health care insurance you are anti-women. If you think that there should be a economic safety net you are a socialist/communist.

Rep. O'Flaherty keep your position, stand tall. I think that you are being a bit oversensitive, but you are not alone as many good people will not step forward and run because of the constant attacks. What this illustrates most is the laziness of journalists in trying to paint everything with just black and white and the laziness of the voting public in just buying into it.

I can't get behind the paywall and I'm interested in seeing what it was that he said that was so inflammatory to Mr. O'Flaherty. Cullen can come off as a spiteful dick sometimes, but this subject is fairly electric in the Hub, so I'd like to reserve judgment for the next, oh, 5 minutes.

Really? Must be a sore spot there for Gene. All Cullen said about him was:

"There is a growing consensus that there should be no arbitrary hiding place for those who murder children’s souls by sexually abusing them. That consensus does not include Gene O’Flaherty."

And that gins up not just a ragequit but the following sputum:

“I wish I had been in high school with you so we could have playfully wrestled after school and you could have gone home to Mommy with tears in your eyes along with a black eye and a sore arse like I’m sure you did on more than one occasion."

I wonder what that bit about a sore arse is supposed to mean. Did Gene hang around after high school playfully wrestling with other boys and giving them sore arses?

In comparison, this looks good on Cullen.

That was in response to a Brian McGrory column on the Felon Finneran indictment.

Much more appropriate place for such a metaphor.
