Tasty Burger wins permission to fling burgers in South Boston, but without any seats
The Boston Licensing Board yesterday approved a Tasty Burger on L Street, but denied the restaurant's request to add 20 patio seats in the back.
The board, which oversees food-serving licenses in Boston, agreed with the outlet's request to stay open until 11 p.m. most nights and midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. The burger stand, which will replace the old Boat House ice-cream stand, will open at 8 a.m., with plans for breakfast burritos and coffee.
Some nearby residents had opposed the stand - whose owners originally sought a 1 a.m. closing - on grounds it would lead to people eating on their stoops, pissing in their alleys and loudly yakking away on their cell phones.
Residents said the patio in particular would cause problems because it abuts neighbors' yards. Without a patio, burger buyers will have to find some other place at which to eat.
