Follow along as Evan MacIsaac and Peter McCarthy walk from Braintree to Alewife. Why? Because they can.

No way
No Way? The Transit Police would have stopped them in their tracks. They would have been picked up on surveillance cameras or by police on platform duty.
Oops, no, not on the tracks
They're walking alongside the right of way and tunnels or as close as they can get.
Surveillance camera, perhaps.
Surveillance camera, perhaps. T cop actually on a platform? Not so much.
Very cool! Just saw them at
Very cool! Just saw them at Broadway Station a little while ago.
Looks like they tried to walk up Dot Ave through the USPS
from Broadway to South Station, and got into a bit of trouble from the police there.
(Instead, you have to walk on either A Street or the walkway on the east side of Fort Point Channel, passing by Gillette World Shaving Headquarters.)
Wasn't there a plan to reopen
Wasn't there a plan to reopen Dot Ave past the post office?
Also:
"There’s a locked back entrance to Quincy Adams that could save us nearly an hour if we can get through"
Someone in a position of leadership should really step up and work to get that entrance reopened. Its closure prevents walking to the station from almost every direction.
Quincy Adams rear entry
IIRC, the community was the deciding force that closed the extra Quincy Adams entrance. So many people were parking in the neighborhood to avoid paying the parking garage fee and the residents fought back due to the resultant traffic (also from Kiss-and-Ride commuters as well) in their community.
It's really unfortunate because that entrance is the community entrance and it's locked off, turning Quincy Adams essentially into an auto-only station.
Here it is at Verchild St on Independence Ave: https://maps.google.com/maps?q=Quincy+Adams+MBTA&h...
Why not have permit parking on those streets, then?
That works at every other station where it's needed. See, for instance, Alewife, which has both a small 'community' entrance to Russell Field and a main entrance for Route 2 commuters.
Even Airport station has a second entrance for local neighborhood use.
No idea. This has come up
No idea. This has come up multiple times (even in the Metro) and the MBTA has consistently denied to even consider the notion of reopening it.
Closing the entrance is an extreme knee-jerk overreaction to the problem. Parking permits would really solve the root of the problem. Quincy Adams was designed with the community in mind. Look at the way the station is situated. Its skewed plan is directly on-axis with Verchild St and perfectly centered.
They arrived at Alewife about
They arrived at Alewife about 40 minutes ago (around 8:45)
I was skeptical from the way they were describing their mission, but they totally succeeded.

Walking is great.
This is a cool story but reminded me of something. I went to the gym the other day when the weather was really nice. I always notice these people who will walk on treadmills for hours on end. Why walk inside a gym when You can go outside and do the same thing?
Allergies
Allergies! For some of us "perfectly nice weather" means "no breathing" due to high pollen counts.
I love being outside too, but it's really hard to do cardio when you can't breathe.
Ahhh that's right..
I can see that.
But these people will still be in the gym during the late summer as well.
OK, I'll Be The Wet Blanket
The entire length of the Red Line would include a walk from Savin Hill to Mattapan.
Pretty cool what they did, though.
