Thirsty state trooper interrupts armed robbery at Newton pharmacy

State Police report a trooper who'd stopped at the CVS at Rte. 9 and Eliot Street for a bottle of water this morning walked right into an armed holdup by a guy with a box cutter.

Trooper [John] McKinnon placed the suspect under arrest. Further investigation revealed that the suspect used a Toyota Venza that had been reported stolen a short time earlier.

If you're going to steal something, at least steal something that doesn't scream "I've given up on life"

It was probably the first car with the keys dropped by the driver door, or easy to jump.

I'm surprised that the robber wasn't s State Police Lieutenant.

Talk about passing the buck...but he knew from the caught-in-the-headlights look.
