Child playing with lighter starts two-alarm fire on Hyde Park Avenue

A kid playing with a lighter on a second-floor porch started a fire that heavily damaged two buildings, sent one firefighter to the hospital and made six people homeless, the Boston Fire Department reports.

The fire, reported at 12:38 p.m. at 444 Hyde Park Ave., sent smoke billowing into the air that was visible for miles around and generated enough heat to damage the paint on a house behind it on Philbrick Street.

The injured firefighter suffered a back injury, the department says, adding the fire did an estimated $300,000 in damage to the house - and $25,000 in damage to the singed house behind it.

another smoker?

Sounds like another smoker.

It was a little kid playing

It was a little kid playing with a lighter. I want to know what happens to the parents of this child that left 10 people homeless!?

That's a good question, anon.

My god...what were the parents up to..leaving a little kid unsupervised like that? Rather pathetic...and irresponsible, imho.
