Not Jamaica Pond. The text
Not Jamaica Pond. The text says Olmsted pond - I assume he meant Olmsted Park. That type wall is over on Perkins st. at Ward's pond.
Yeah, you're right, but ...
All part of the same basic park; figured Jamaica Pond was more immediately recognizable. No turtles in Jamaica Pond?
There is a way to pick them up if they are in the road
A neighbor taught this to me years ago, when we needed to get them across Newtown Road in Littleton.
First thing - if you can't lift 40+ lbs (office water bottle), don't atttempt.
Second - the trick is to get them where their shell flares out a bit, right under their "armpits". Hold the turtle away from your body, and they cannot reach you to snap you.
Move quickly and they won't have time to organize before you carry them to safety.
I did this once near the Riverway on a side street where the muddy river starts along the little trails (by the T on one side). Poor turtle was confused, humans and cars were blocking the road waiting. I scooped him up like Henry taught me and all were on their way.
