My Ancestor

By on

No joke. Shem Drowne was my great-great-great, etc., grandfather, on my mother's side. Her maiden name was Drown (the "e" was dropped somewhere along the way, same as I suspect the "O" may have been tossed overboard by my Sullivan forebears.) Always cool to see something about him that adds a little bit to our scant knowledge. More specifically than "metalworker", he was a coppersmith, and he was also a deacon in the church mentioned.

With my love for all things Three Stooges, MY WIFE likes to say that somewhere along the line a "p" must have been dropped off of his first name.
