WRKO to launch special series on drug abuse

Oh, wait, sorry, no, they're just going to start airing Rush Limbaugh's daily bleats. Also, Michele McPhee will be taking Tom Finneran's old spot in the morning.

What is this 'special series' on drug abuse you speak of?

Every time I hear Michelle McPhee's voice I want to take drugs.

Yet, RKO had an anti-drug program in the 70's, "Drug Hotline". The show's opening had a hip/cool voice that said "Drug, drug, drug...Hotline, hotline hotline)

Many if not most visitors to UH may not know that the broadcasting conglomerate Clear Channel spent a FORTUNE moving one of the AM stations they owned hereabouts from Framingham to Boston's doorstep and then boosted its fulltime power to 50,000 watts. It's at 1200 on the AM dial, and if you have trouble picking it up while driving around or even at home, it utilizes a not-very-efficient antenna system. WRKO-AM is, as they say DIRECTIONAL too, but they use those Eiffel-tower lookalike towers just north of the Burlington Mall so the 50,000 watts really get out there. Now Clear Channel is practically admitting that all that expense and trouble was all for naught, and they might as well sell the copper for scrap. And of course, they spent several million dollars to buy WFNX-FM just to switch it to a format largely available from one end of the FM dial to the other. Oh, and they have a H-U-G-E loan coming due one of these days. One of the creditors is Bain Capital, elsewhere known as VULTURE capitalists.

"Whass your name, sweetness?"

"Vanessa"

"Vanessa, what's going on with y'all this fine evenin'?"

"I'm having a real bad trip....a real bad one....I...I..don't know if I can handle it"

"It's cool, baby, thass what we here for, now here's what we want you to do..you ready?......Vanessa?""

"Yeah, I'm still here"

"Stay with us, baby"

My brother and I listened to that show religiously!!! So much so that my Dad took us down in his cab under the Central Artery over by Albany Street to see where the junkies hung out.

"See?" He said, as the junkies milled about like zombies. "Happy now?"

If you bring up Rush's drug abuse/criminal past you inevitably get "countered" with a liberal person (or family in today's case) that abused drugs/has a criminal past.

Here's the reason it doesn't work: Liberals don't play "holier than thou" with the topic of drug abuse, or crime, for that matter. You can't complain about the "bleeding heart" liberals and not note that they can be, at times soft on criminals, and then turn around and compare them to Rush. Rush's hard-line stance on drug use and criminality makes him an absolute grand slam when it comes to the topic. He talked a tough game on the topic until, of course, it was him on the stand.

So, comparing the Kennedy's to Rush? No comparison.

Having no morals puts you on the moral high ground by avoiding any instances of hypocrisy? Huh?

"Liberals don't play "holier than thou" with the topic of drug abuse, or crime, for that matter."

They do with demands that others pay taxes which they themselves, legally or illegally, do not.

According to the Herald, Jay Severin just got canned as a result of this move. Jimmy Severino was forgotten but not gone. Now he can be both!

He tweeted to his fans not to worry. He'll be back.

"No morals" isn't the way I'd put it. I'd say that some people understand that there are traps out there in life - booze, drugs, etc, and that otherwise good people can fall into these traps. Rush would actually fit that description as well as any "liberal" notable you'd like to bring up. Where Rush loses footing is when he opens his mouth to speak and what comes out is a diatribe against drug dealers, drug users, and "soft on crime" liberals. It's hard to take him seriously when the first thing he wanted when HE was caught buying drugs was a "soft on crime" response from the system. Suddenly, he wanted "understanding" and "forgiveness."

As for the "liberals who want YOU to pay taxes but don't pay them themselves" hasn't Obama said it out loud plenty of times in his speeches? He's getting a GREAT deal on taxes! He says so himself, says it isn't fair. Now, what you'd like is something that would qualify him and others as saints, and that is for them to pay taxes they don't owe because the system doesn't demand it of them?

Tell ya what. The liberal leaders are as likely to do that as the conservative leaders are likely to take pay cuts, cut their staff down to a "lean and mean" number, and reject their government provided (and taxpayer funded) health care.

Lean & mean, as long as you happen to be one of their supporters or clients.
