Apartment fire forces 30 people into the cold

Heath Street fire scene

Heath Street response. Photo by a roving UHub photographer.

Resident of the apartment building at 209 Heath St. were forced into the chill night air around 6:30 p.m. due to a fire in one unit. The Hennigan School across the street opened its cafeteria to residents so they could stay warm while awaiting the all clear from BFD.

I walked past there just an hour before. Is just one unit damaged in total?

That's a pretty cool building, too. There's a driveway under a big archway, really neat. It's rather impressive and interesting for [what I assume is] fairly new construction.

I walked by around 6:30 and stopped to watch the crews. I heard firefighters say the fire was out at 6:40 on their radios.

Thanks Adam for finally adding 'Mission Hill' as one of our neighborhoods!

The fire the other evening at 209 Heath Street though is in Jamaica Plain. Heath street is the dividing line.

If the street is the dividing line, wouldn't that put this building on the Mission Hill side of the line?
