Bicycle thief claimed he was a police officer

Boston Police offered more details on Saturday night's bicycle robbery at St. Botolph and West Newton:

Upon arrival officers located the female victim in her 50’s, who stated she had been riding her bicycle (a black Schwinn) when the suspect described as a white male in his 30s, stocky build, wearing a navy blue t-shirt and blue jeans, jumped out in front of her. The suspect stated "Stop Boston Police" and grabbed the victim off of her bicycle and threw her to the ground. A brief struggle ensued then the suspect got onto the bicycle and fled towards St. Botolph Street. The victim chased the suspect and saw him turn right onto St. Botolph Street toward Copley Place but then lost sight of him.

A guy tried a similar thing with me back in the early 90's while I was waiting for the #39 bus on Huntington around midnight. He whips around the corner, shouts"POLICE!" LEMME SEE YOUR ID!' and goes for my back pocket for my wallet. After my initial WTF?I spun around and started swingin'. He just took off across the street. Unbeknownst to him, I never keep cash in there anyway.
