Bostonians proving too smart for old car-accident telephone scam

Boston Police report a number of residents have gotten hit in recent months with a telephone scam in which they get phone calls from people claiming a relative was just injured in a car accident and that they won't get any medical care until the victims wire money immediately.
Fortunately, police say, Bostonians have proven too smart for the ruse and have not wired anything in any of the incidents.
Still, police say they are investigating and that anybody who gets one of the calls should call 911 (note to forestall the inevitable discussion: Yes, in Boston, police use 911 for non-immediate-emergency calls).
