DA: Roslindale man faces child-porn charges after image-hosting site turned him in

Joel Van Iderstine, 37, of Sheffield Road, was arrested last night on a charge of possessing and distributing child pornography, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

Van Iderstine had his bail set at $5,000 at arraignment in West Roxbury District Court today, the DA's office says.

The DA's office says police began investigating Van Iderstine after the online service he was using to host images "notified the New England Center for Missing and Exploited Children that a client had uploaded several files depicting child pornography." The Herald identified the service as Photobucket. According to the DA's office:

Boston Police detectives viewed still and video images associated with the tape and immediately recognized them to depict child pornography. "These files were very graphic and very disturbing, [DA Dan] Conley said. "They were unquestionably sexual and unquestionably victimized children.

The DA's office then used an administrative subpoena to obtain the subscriber information for the IP number associated with the uploads, which led them to Roslindale.

Innocent, etc.
