This is actually the 3rd building to partially collapse...
The building that houses Dreamy Flavor Restaurant (real name) at 129 Broadway had part of its brick facade collapse into the street. Initially, wooden planks held up what was left, and now scaffolding is doing the job. That has interfered with the ongoing streetscape project.
And we all know about Zoe's on Beacon St, because everybody wrote about that.
drove through last night and noticed a silver lining
Drove through Davis last night, and noticed one nice side effect of the lane closure was that there weren't any cabs double parked in the left hand travel lane, waiting to get into the queue at the taxi stand. Pretty sure traffic was flowing faster than normal.
they're removing all of the decorative stonework now
above the second floor windows on both the Chester and Elm Street sides. They're doing it by hand with chisels, rather than using a saw that might cause more vibration. The work is likely to stretch into tomorrow.
