Do you know what to do if your ear gets blocked? No, but hum a few bars ...

WBUR talks to a Mass. Eye and Ear doctor about what to do if one of your ears suddenly feels blocked - and no, it's not to jam a Q-tip in it:

Hum. Just hmmmmmmmmmmm. And if you hear your voice louder in the blocked ear, the bad ear, there’s nothing to worry about. But if you hear it louder in the good, unblocked ear, that’s bad. That’s when we worry you have sudden deafness.

But just as important, he continues, don't stick a Q-tip in your ear no matter how good it feels or how evocative it looks.

...you stick your elbow in it!

I was told this by the guy who sold me my first left-handed smoke-shifter.

Do NOT use Q-tips. If you do, definitely do NOT stick them into your ears. All that does is push in any earwax further into your ear, blocking it even more.
It's possible that fluids are blocking, or fluids and earwax.
It's possible that ear wax is blocking it, the best thing to do is to go to the doctor and have them take a look.
They have many tools to take out earwax, either wet or dry.
I have heard that those earwax candles do work. Somehow the heat creates suction, pulling the earwax out.
But, again, your best bet is to go see an ear doctor. They should be able to clean out your ear.
Hopefully it's just earwax in your ear, and not fluid behind your eardrum.
