Duck Boat parade starts Saturday at 10 a.m.

NESN reports the victory boats will head down Boylston before splashing into the Charles.

BONUS: The MBTA reports that because of the parade, the Red Line will operate normally, with trains and everything, this weekend. The T had originally planned to bus riders over the Longfellow for track work.

The specific route.

Start on Boylston Street at Ipswich Street;
Left on Tremont;
Left on Cambridge Street;
Right on Blossom Street;
Finish in the Charles River

As MVP of the World Series, he's already done more to improve transportation in this town by making the Red Line run normally this weekend than either of the two candidates on the ballot.

Write-in Papi for Mayor! Make OUR FUCKING CITY his fucking city!

Have you been to "his" restaurant in Natick?

Ugh.

That puts him a step ahead of both candidates.

Earth to Stevil: Big Papi is a professional baseball player, not a restaurant manager. He didn't run his restaurant. Furthermore, Massachusetts isn't a company, it's a state. Massachusetts doesn't hire/fire or manage it's citizens -- citizens aren't employees. Get it?

Quack quack!!

Does that mean normal like in not breaking down, because that is what should be the norm? Or does it mean it has a 1 in 3 change of breaking down because of phase of the alignment of the stars because that is what is the actual norm?

"normal" mean normal Saturday service. If so, then expect a huge cluster - especially on the "once every three hours" commuter rail lines.

They said there will be extra subway and commuter rail service, but I haven't seen a schedule.

Based on past ego fests - er - "victory" parades, this is still going to be a cluster any way you slice it. And instead of "encouraging you to buy your return fare on the way in", they should just make the system free for the day.

Capacity is being significantly increased along each line. Pleas expect variations in scheduled times due to increased ridership and allow extra time for your trip. The MBTA strongly urges parade-goers to take advantage of the earliest trains to avoid very heavy volume on subsequent trains.

Please note: Commuter Rail service will not run on lines that do not normally run on Saturdays (Greenbush, Kingston, Needham, Fairmount, and Stoughton).

Making stops on each line, the North Side train departure times will be:

Trains departing Rockport at: 6:00 a.m., 7:00 a.m., 8:45 a.m.
Trains departing Newburyport at: 6:15 a.m., 7:15 a.m., 8:48 a.m.
Trains departing Haverhill at: 6:00 a.m., 7:15 a.m., 8:15 a.m.
Trains departing Lowell at: 6:00 a.m., 7:00 a.m., 8:00 a.m., 9:00 a.m.
Train departing Wilmington at: 7:45 a.m., 9:20 a.m.
Trains departing Fitchburg at: 6:00 a.m., 6:50 a.m., 7:40 a.m.
Train departing South Acton at: 8:50 a.m.
Making stops on each line, the South/West Side departure times will be:

Trains departing Worcester at: 6:30 a.m., 7:30 a.m.
Trains departing Franklin/Forge Park at: 6:35 a.m., 8:35 a.m.
Trains departing Providence at: 6:35 a.m., 8:35 a.m.
Trains departing Middleboro/Lakeville at: 6:50 a.m., 8:22 a.m.
All Commuter Rail lines will return to their regular Saturday schedules at approximately 4:00 p.m. Additional outbound trains have also been added to the Fitchburg Line, leaving North Station at 2:00 p.m., 4:00 p.m., and 6:00 p.m., making stops at all stations.

Commuter Rail customers can purchase a $10 roundtrip fare electronically via our mTicket mobile ticketing app at www.mbta.com/mticket beginning Friday, November 1 at 1:00 p.m

So, extra IB service in the AM to get the crowds in, but no extra OB service in the PM (except for the Fitchburg line - WTF) to get those same crowds out. As I said, expect a cluster. And the "we normally don't run Saturday trains on certain lines, so we won't run service on those lines tomorrow" is nothing more than totally inexcuseable BS and should be fully investigated.

Will it be open to pedestrians, for viewing, this weekend?

The south (upstream, toward Back Bay) sidewalk is closed for construction.

A great deal of the Resident parking in Beacon Hill turns into a tow zone at midnight tonight.
Back Bay will loose a smaller percentage and it looks like Fenway won't loose all that much.

Where are the duck boats going to enter the Charles? The route maps I've seen don't appear to show entry at the normal ramp used for tours, but I don't think there is an alternate. Is there? Is there a boat ramp at the police station, near the pool, or behind the Museum of Science?

I saw "Cambridge" somewhere, so that would seem to rule out the police station.

I wouldn't take the published maps (such as this one on Boston.com, showing a phycially impossible route) too literally.
