Brian D'Amico and AlertNewEngland report a man went over the seawall at the Castle island Sugar Bowl to try to rescue his dog, then couldn't get back up over the seawall. The firefighters of Ladder 19 pulled him back over - along with the dog.

Thanks.
Yey another dog slips its leash?
This is truly amazing.
Or maybe the owner instructed Fido to shit in the Harbor since Daddy "forgot" the cleanup bags yet again?
Wouldn't surprise me what these d-bag owners come up with as an excuse these days.
What's so frigging hard about keeping your dog under your control and out of harm and mischief and other people's way?
Leash laws and poope scooper laws should be strictly enforced and the dogs removed from owners after 3 strikes.
They've proven themselves incapable of being a responsible owner that can care for dog's welfare..
As much as I agree with you
Castle Island's railings along the seawall are an accident waiting to happen, given the heavy family/pet traffic that area gets. They should be vertical bars that are close together, not wide-set horizontal ones that are easy to climb through.
People should be careful, but small children and pets don't always listen, and then we end up wasting fire department resources on nonsense.
If railings aren't safe
It's all the more reason to keep your dog away from them.
That's what leashes are for.

this man is a hero.
Crazy Realtors
would have you believe that Castle Island Sugar Bowl are the same location. Castle Island is the area where Fort Independence is located. The Sugar Bowl is the midpoint of the Causeway that surrounds Pleasure Bay. There once was a round shade structure surrounded by benches that looked like a "sugarbowl", hence the name.
There are NO luxury condos in either of these areas. There are no condos that are "steps" from either of these locations.
They never learn
Just saw a news clip from yesterday's storm. Some idiot looky-loo feet from raging surf in Truro.
Accompanied by his off-leash dog.
Good Lord.
