The honor role: Orchard Gardens K-8 Trotter Elementary School, Blackstone Elementary School, John F. Kennedy Elementary School and Harbor Middle School.
BPS officials say the schools all escaped Level 4 status through better results on standardized tests based on longer school days, increased teacher training and partnerships with local groups.
BPS has moved aggressively to protect these important tools by establishing innovation school status and launching other in-school initiatives to ensure academic progress and longer school days can continue. The state may also allow these flexibilities to continue even as the schools exit Level 4.
Officials added that the Dever Elementary and the Holland Elementary School were ranked as Level 5, which means they are really lagging and could be taken over by the state if things don't improve.
